Lahti Symphony Orchestra touring in Germany and Austria with Osmo Vänskä 7.-12.11.2005

Lahti Symphony Orchestra will tour in Germany on 7-12 November 2005 visiting in Wilhelmshaven (7.11.), Nürnberg (8.11.), Friedrichshafen (9.11.) and Karlsruhe (10.11.). All concerts will be conducted by the Principal Conductor Osmo Vänskä. The tour will culminate in the concert in the world famous grand hall of the Musikverein in Vienna on 12th November 2005. For the Lahti Symphony Orchestra the concert will be the debut in Musikverein but the orchestra has already been invited again to give three residence concerts in spring 2007.
As soloist during the tour will play Baiba Skride, a young talented violinist building an impressive international career. The winner of Queen Elizabeth Violin Competition will play during the tour the concertos by Brahms and Prokofjev (no. 1). The other works of the two concert programs are 3rd symphony and tone poem Bard by Jean Sibelius, Cantus Arcticus by Einojuhani Rautavaara and the Tragic Overture by Johannes Brahms. Last January the orchestra made a successful tour in the United States. The Lahti Symphony Orchestra has earlier visited e.g. BBC Proms event in London, in Amsterdam Concertgebouw, in St. Petersburg at the White Nights Festival and in Japan. The prominent critics in Japan chose the Kullervo Symphony concert (Sibelius) the best classical music concert in Japan in 2003.
