'Rajaton sings ABBA with Lahti Symphony Orchestra’ sold a Platinum Record

The recording ‘Rajaton sings ABBA with Lahti Symphony Orchestra’ by vocal ensemble Rajaton and Lahti Symphony has got a Platinum Record with over 30.000 copies sold in Finland. At the time of its release on 1 November, the recording reached immediately the No. 1 position on the official Album Chart of Finland and sold a Gold Record (15.000 copies) in less than two weeks. The No. 1 chart position is the first one for both ensembles. Rajaton has sold earlier Platinum with its cd ‘Joulu’ (Christmas) and Lahti Symphony Orchestra with the cd Music from Timo Koivusalo’s film Sibelius’.

The Lahti Symphony Orchestra and Rajaton has co-operated closely since 2001. Founded in 1997 by six Finnish singers, vocal ensemble Rajaton has fast made its mark in the international a cappella scene with its fresh approach to choral music. The group is distinguished by brilliance and ensemble virtuosity coupled with warmth and richness in sound that can only be described as boundless (rajaton).
