The new Sibelius cd of the Lahti SO includes once again world première recordings

The Lahti Symphony Orchestra, with its Chief Conductor Osmo Vänskä conducting, published its new Sibelius cd ’Seriously Sibelius’ (BIS-CD-1485), which is the 23rd recording of the orchestra in the Sibelius complete edition project of the BIS record label. Altogether it is the 59th recording of the orchestra. Out of the total of seven works in the recording, three are world première recordings: In memoriam, Op. 59 (first version), Lemminkäinen in Tuonela, Op. 22 No. 2 (1896 version reconstructed) and Humoresque No. 1 for Violin and Orchestra, Op. 87 No. 1 (first version). The violin soloist of the Humoresque is Jaakko Kuusisto, and cellist Marko Ylönen is the soloist in the work Two Serious Melodies, Op. 77. In the cd there are also the following works: In memoriam, Op. 59 (final version), Presto for strings (1894) and Three Pieces for Orchestra, Op. 96. BIS Homepage
