Lahti Symphony with Vänskä at the Beethoven Easter Festival in Poland in 2008

The Lahti Symphony Orchestra, conducted by its Chief Conductor Osmo Vänskä, has three concerts at the Beethoven Easter Festival in Poland on 14-16 March 2008. The orchestra has two concerts at the National Philharmonic Hall in Warsaw and one concert at the Arthur Rubinstein Philharmonic Hall in Lodz, the second largest city of the country. On Friday 14 March in Warsaw the soloist in the Violin Concerto by Sibelius is Pekka Kuusisto and on Saturday 15 March and on Sunday 16 March Sharon Bezaly is the soloist in the Flute Concerto by Kalevi Aho, the orchestra’s composer-in-residence. The other Finnish pieces in the concert programmes are the Interludes from the opera The Last Temptations by Joonas Kokkonen and Sibelius’s Fifth Symphony. In addition, in the concerts will be heard Beethoven’s Second Symphony and Mozart’s Symphony No. 32.

The Beethoven Easter Festival is arranged for the 12th time in 2008. In the festival, directed by Elzbieta Penderecki, perform also i.e. the Munich Philharmonic, RSO Berlin and Kremerata Baltica, and other noteworthy artists include violinists Gidon Kremer and Baiba Skride and pianists Till Fellner and Rudolf Buchbinder.
