Queen recording brought a gold disc to the Lahti Symphony and Rajaton

15.000 copies of the recording ”Rajaton Sings Queen with Lahti Symphony Orchestra” (Plastinka PLACD 059) was sold in two weeks in Finland and brought a gold disc, and at the same time the recording reached #4 position in the official music chart in Finland this week. The conductor in the recording is Jaakko Kuusisto, who has also made all the orchestral arrangements of the cd. In the second joint album of the Lahti Symphony and Rajaton there is more than one hour of Queen’s hits, which are chosen from the concert programme ‘A Kind of Magic’ – produced by the Lahti SO – which has been performed at the sold-out Sibelius Hall altogether nine times 2006-08. In addition, the programme has been performed in Helsinki and Oulu, and this week in Edmonton and Minneapolis. The ABBA cd by the Lahti SO and Rajaton got a platinum disc in 2006. Altogether the Lahti SO has received to platinum discs, six gold discs and numerous international recording awards, e.g. Grand Prix du Disque 1993, Gramophone Award 1991 and 1996, Cannes Classical Award 1997 and 2001, and MIDEM Classical Award 2006. Altogether more than 600.000 copies of the recordings of the Lahti Symphony Orchestra have been sold worldwide.
