Touring in the Central Europe 2009

The Lahti Symphony tours with Saraste in the Central Europe in Nov-Dec 2009

The Lahti Symphony Orchestra tours with its artistic advisor, conductor Jukka-Pekka Saraste in the Central Europe on 27 November – 2 December 2009. The tour concerts are at the Bratislava Philharmonia in Slovakia on 27 November, at Vienna Musikverein in Austria on 28 and 29 November, at Linz Brucknerhaus in Austria on 30 November and at Bartók National Concert Hall (Palace of Arts) in Budapest, Hungary on 2 December 2009. The soloists at the tour are the Hungarian pianist Deszö Ranki and Finnish violinist Pekka Kuusisto. In the concert programmes there are the following works: Lemminkäinen Suite, Symphony No. 6 and Six Humoresques and Two Serenades for violin and orchestra by Jean Sibelius, Corrente II by Magnus Lindberg, Piano Concerto by Robert Schumann and The Swans by Väinö Raitio.

The concert tour in the Central Europe is Jukka-Pekka Saraste’s fourth visit abroad with the Lahti Symphony Orchestra. Earlier Saraste has conducted the Lahti Symphony Orchestra at the Bremen Music Festival (Germany), in Groningen (The Netherlands) and in St. Petersburg (Russia). Regarding the concert halls during this tour, the Lahti Symphony Orchestra has performed in the Golden Hall of the Vienna Musikverein in 2005 and 2007 in altogether four concerts.
