Lahti Symphony got a gold disc for the Sibelius-Lahti-Vänskä recording

The Lahti Symphony Orchestra got a gold disc for its recording Sibelius-Lahti-Vänskä (BIS-CD-1125). The limit of 20.000 sold copies of the recording, published in 2000, was reached in December 2008 (for the recordings published in 2001 or after, the limit is 15.000 copies). In the recording, conducted by Osmo Vänskä, there are popular pieces by Jean Sibelius, e.g. The Swan of Tuonela, Spring Song, Valse triste, Tapiola and Finlandia.
Altogether the Lahti SO has received two platinum discs, seven gold discs and numerous international recording awards, e.g. Grand Prix du Disque 1993, Gramophone Award 1991 and 1996, Cannes Classical Award 1997 and 2001, and MIDEM Classical Award 2006. More than 650.000 copies of the recordings of the Lahti Symphony Orchestra have been sold worldwide.
