Lahti SO touring in Sweden and Poland with Okko Kamu

The Lahti Symphony Orchestra will be touring in Sweden in October 2010. The tour will be conducted by Okko Kamu, who will start as the principal conductor of the orchestra in the autumn of 2011. The six concerts will take place on 15-21 October 2010 in Malmö, Gothenburg, Jönköping, Ytterjärna, Linköping and Västerås. The soloist is Elina Vähälä, who will perform violin concertos by Bruch and Sibelius. The other works performed during the tour are Sibelius's Third Symphony, Beethoven's Second Symphony and Jaakko Kuusisto's work Leika, which will be premièred in Lahti on 14 October 2010.

In April 2011 the orchestra will perform at the Beethoven Easter Festival in Poland for the second time. In the three concerts on 15-17 April 2011, conducted by Okko Kamu, the orchestra will perform in Warsaw and Cracow with pianist Krzysztof Jablonski as one of the soloists. For the first time the orchestra performed at th particular festival in the spring of 2008 with Osmo Vänskä.
