Stravinsky – Chopin – Stravinsky
The 20-year-old 20 Ossi Tanner won the first Tampere Piano Competition in May 2017, and now makes his début as soloist with Lahti Symphony Orchestra in Frédéric Chopin’s Second Piano Concerto. Stravinsky’s one-act ballet The Fairy’s Kiss, here performed in its entirety, is a homage to Tchaikovsky, and is based on Hans Christian Andersen’s fairy tale The Ice-Maiden. The concert is conducted by Hannu Lintu and begins with Stravinsky’s Symphony in Three Movements, which is regarded as the composer’s first major work after his emigration to the USA. This concert is part of Ossi Tanner’s artist-in-residence programme in the spring of 2018.
