Penderecki’s Horn Concerto of 2008 bears the title “Winterreise”, reflecting how it came to be composed in winter. It is the first solo concerto for a brass instrument by a composer with a long career behind him. The soloist both at the premiere and now in this already highly-acclaimed concerto is Radovan Vlatkovic. The concert conducted by Hannu Lintu begins with the second Chamber Symphony, a late work by Schönberg, and ends with the enchanting Tchaikovsky classic, his Fifth Symphony.
