The Lahti Symphony Orchestra will be celebrating its first ten years in its present home, the Sibelius Hall, with a gala concert conducted by Okko Kamu. The Violin Concerto by Aram Khachaturian is brimming with Armenian melody and rhythmic vitality. Today it will be heard in a version for flute with Sharon Bezaly, one of the finest flautists in the world, as the soloist. The main work is the Symphony No. 6, claimed by some to be philosophical, by Anton Bruckner.
