Dutilleux: Symphony No. 1 American pianist Jonathan Biss impressed Lahti audiences in spring 2010 with his dynamic Mozart. This time, he can be heard in Beethoven’s sunny G Major Concerto. The concert begins with a work by Jouni Kaipainen with a wordplay title, notkea keaton ('The Ghost of Buster'), seasoned with West African and other spices. The main work on the programme conducted by Hannu Lintu is the Symphony No. 1 by Henri Dutilleux, a French composer born in 1916.
