Since 1994 the Lahti Symphony Orchestra’s general manager has been Tuomas Kinberg, M.A., a violinist, musicologist and Sibelius scholar. He has played an active part in the development of Finnish musical life, both as an administrator and in the realm of education.
He is a long-standing member of various national governing bodies for musical administration and has, for example, served as vice-president of the Association of Finnish Symphony Orchestras.
Kinberg was one of the most influential figures in bringing Lahti’s internationally renowned Sibelius Hall into being. He has worked pioneeringly, creatively and uncompromisingly to develop the Lahti Symphony Orchestra’s administration, communication and sponsorship activities. In 2001 Suomen Tiedottajien Liitto (the Finnish Association of Communications Professionals) named him as ‘communicator of the year’ for his efforts in making the Sibelius Hall a reality.
