The work Kaamos, a spinoff from the Sibelius Festival’s ‘Taimitarha’ project, put Lara Poe on Finland’s musical map. Now the American Finn has composed a new song cycle for the Lahti Symphony Orchestra based on L. Onerva’s poems. Mezzo-soprano Virpi Räisänen, who has triumphed at La Scala in Milan, the Philharmonie in Berlin and the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, is the soloist in this premiere. Rapidly rising conductor Nil Venditti makes his debut in Lahti as an interpreter of Italian music.
