Knussen – Knussen – Brahms

Leila Josefowicz is one of today’s most sought-after violinists; and Oliver Knussen – who during his long career has received many awards – is in the top flight of contemporary composers, a major figure in British music. Josefowicz performs Knussen’s Violin Concerto at this concert conducted by the composer himself, which opens with another piece by Knussen, The Way to Castle Yonder. It concludes with the young Johannes Brahms’s Serenade No. 1.
