The Lahti Symphony Orchestra invites applications for the position of

2nd Violin Player (tutti)

The salary, including the individual pay component and recording supplement is 2611,88–2820,84 € per month. Work starts at January 7th, 2019 (or according to agreement).


Audition repertoire

  1. Choose one of the following:
    Mozart: Violin Concerto No. 3 in G K216; 1st mvt. with cadenza
    Mozart: Violin Concerto No. 4 in. D K218; 1st mvt. with cadenza
    Mozart: Violin Concerto No. 5 in A K219; 1st mvt. with cadenza
  1. Choose one of the following:
    1st movement with cadenza of a concerto written during or after the Romantic era
    one piece of the applicant’s choice, with piano accompaniment, about 10 minutesPiece should be mentioned in the application.
  1. Chamber music
    W. A. Mozart: String Quartett No. 6 (Bb-Major) KV 159, 1. movement; Andante
  1. An invitation to the audition together with orchestral excerpts (chambermusic) will be sent by email to selected candidates on November 2nd, 2018

Auditions at November 16th -17th 2018

  • The orchestra will choose the participants to the audition based on the information in the appli-cations
  • The auditions will be held in the Kalevi Aho Hall of the Lahti Music Institute (Hämeenkatu 4, Lahti) on November 16th, 2018 from 11 a.m. onwards


  • Closing date for applications is Thursday October 25th, 2018 and applications must be sent by email to
  • Application must give all the following information

– Your personal details and brief Curriculum vitae
– Full contact details (home address including country, email and telephone number)
– Please inform, whether you wish to use accompanist provided by the orchestra

Should a present member of the orchestra be appointed to the post, his or her successor may be selected at these same auditions. The candidate must present an acceptable medical certificate of health before signing the employment contract and a probationary period (6 months) is set for the candidate. The city of Lahti is a smoke-free working place.
